Couple Connection

What makes a marriage extraordinary? What are couples in satisfying relationships doing differently than couples in distressed relationships? We will explore these and other questions in a four-week marriage enrichment workshop that describes God’s blueprint for relationships. Grace Point Counselor Mary Causey, Ph.D., LPC-S, RPT-S will present the workshop. Mary is an adjunct lecturer for the Master’s Counseling Department at Sam Houston University and has extensive training in working with couples.

DivorceCare and DC4K

DivorceCare is a weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. Leading the group is Susan Jones, licensed marriage and family therapist, certified rehabilitation counselor and executive director of Grace Point Marriage & Family Center. DivorceCare is a place where you can meet other divorced / separated adults and hear about ways to heal from the hurt of divorce.

DivorceCare also offers a coinciding program for your children called DC4K. This group is led by Kara Merrill, licensed professional counselor intern and board eligible national certified counselor. DC4K is a special group that helps children ages 5–12 heal from the hurt caused by the separation or divorce of their parents. Children become friends with other children who understand how they feel and the things they are going through because of the divorce of their parents.

The Emotionally Healty Woman

Join us for a four week educational, discussion group led by Grace Point counselors, Margie Jordon, LPC and Kara Merrill, LPC-Intern

Week 3: Being a healthy care giver, understanding stress, anxiety and depression

Healthy Homes

This 8 week group is an educational and support group for people who want to improve the psychological and spiritual health of their family. Margie Jordan, LPC and LMFT-Associate and graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary will be the facilitator of this group

Making Peace with Your Past

Led by Susan Jones, LMFT, this 10 week evening group is designed for people who grew up in a dysfunctional family or needing to overcome past hurts. Making Peace with Your Past provides a safe, confidential and loving environment for personal and spiritual recovery, healing, growth, and well-being. Many lives have been transformed through attending this group and learning God’s desire for our lives – to live joyfully, without the chains of the past.

Special Blessings: The Journey of Hidden Treasures

This four-week session is for families who have learned they are expecting a child with special needs and for families who have recently received a special needs diagnosis for one of their children.

Child-Parent Relationship (CPR) Training

When children have problems, they may not have the words to express them. Play gives children a way to communicate feelings they don’t understand or are unable to express. With 20 hours of Child-Parent Relationship Training, motivated parents can learn to be as effective as play therapists with their own children. Research has shown that CPR Training can reduce or eliminate behavior problems; enhance the parent-child relationship; develop responsibility and self-control in children and increase children’s self-esteem and self-confidence. CPR Training is conducted in 10 weekly two-hour sessions. The atmosphere is accepting and the training interactive, making it enjoyable for one both parents. Parents of children 21/2 to 10 years of age are welcome to attend. Registered Play Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor, Dr. Mary Causey will facilitate the group sessions.
